Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Data Cabling Engineer to join our dynamic telecommunications team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems that support data, voice, and video communications across various client sites. Your expertise will ensure seamless network connectivity, optimal system performance, and reliable telecommunication infrastructure. Duties
- Install, terminate, and test data cabling including Ethernet, fiber optics, and other structured wiring systems in commercial and industrial environments
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and network diagrams to accurately implement cabling layouts
- Set up and configure network equipment such as Cisco routers, Juniper switches, Avaya communication systems, and VoIP devices
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on cabling infrastructure to ensure system integrity and performance
- Troubleshoot network issues related to cabling or hardware failures using hand tools and diagnostic equipment
- Collaborate with electrical teams to integrate telecommunication systems with electrical infrastructure safely and efficiently
- Repair or replace damaged cables and equipment promptly to minimize downtime and maintain system reliability
Requirements
- Proven experience in network installation, cable termination, and equipment repair within telecommunication environments
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet standards, VLANs, routing protocols, and VoIP technology
- Familiarity with CCTV systems, schematics interpretation, and telecommunication hardware such as Cisco routers, Juniper switches, Avaya systems
- Skilled in using hand tools for cable termination and equipment installation with precision
- Electrical experience or background is highly desirable for integrating power supplies with communication systems
- Ability to read technical diagrams accurately and follow safety protocols diligently
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting complex network issues
