The opportunity
Skill Connections is an established HR and payroll consultancy that has supported businesses with their people operations for over a decade.
Following the expansion of our St. Neots operations, we are looking for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join our growing team at Oakpark Business Centre.
This is a responsible advisory position for someone who can provide practical, commercially considered employee relations support to managers and business clients. You will manage a varied caseload, guide managers through formal processes and help ensure each matter is handled fairly, consistently and in line with employment law and internal policy.
Alongside your client work, you will contribute to strong communication and collaboration within the Skill Connections team. You will report directly to Jessica Brown, Head of HR.
Your responsibilities
Your work will include:
- Advising managers on disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance matters
- Managing employee relations cases from initial review through to resolution
- Supporting workplace investigations and reviewing evidence, statements and findings
- Guiding managers through formal meetings, probation reviews and flexible working requests
- Preparing outcome letters, meeting notes, case documentation and supporting correspondence
- Advising on workplace conflict and supporting mediation where appropriate
- Supporting restructures and redundancy consultation processes
- Identifying potential employment law, policy and procedural risks
- Monitoring active cases, deadlines and agreed actions
- Reviewing HR policies and supporting the delivery of practical manager training
- Building trusted working relationships with clients and understanding their individual HR requirements
- Sharing relevant case information internally to support consistent advice and effective team collaboration
About you
We are looking for someone with established employee relations experience who is comfortable taking responsibility for complex and sensitive cases.
You should have:
- Previous experience in an Employee Relations Advisor, HR Advisor or similar position
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations procedures
- Experience supporting disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance cases
- The confidence to advise managers and constructively challenge decisions when required
- Strong written skills with experience preparing professional HR documentation
- Good organisation and the ability to manage several cases and deadlines at once
- A professional, balanced and confidential approach
- CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience, either completed or actively being worked towards
Experience within an HR consultancy, outsourced HR service or multi client environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
Salary and benefits
- Salary between £38,000 and £41,000, depending on experience
- Performance related bonus with a target of 7.5% and the opportunity to earn up to 10% of salary

Location and working hours
The role is based at Oakpark Business Centre, Alington Road, St. Neots, PE19 6WA.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Hybrid working may be available depending on business requirements and the responsibilities of the role.
