The role in one line
You'll build the research, data and thinking that goes into every ecommerce site we design, working alongside our Delivery Lead, who owns and presents the final strategy.
Why this role exists
Every build we take on starts with a strategy phase: who the customer actually is, how they behave, and how each page of the store should be structured to move them toward purchase. We ground that in conversion rate optimisation and behavioural economics rather than opinion.
That work needs someone to own the inputs - the audits, the analytics, the research, the deck - so the strategy is built on evidence. That's you.
What you'll actually do
Strategy support (roughly 70% of your week)
- Competitor and category audits - how are the best stores in a client's space structured, and why
- Pulling and interpreting GA4 / Shopify data: where users drop off, which paths convert, what the numbers say about intent
- Reviewing heatmaps and session recordings (Hotjar / Clarity) and surfacing what you find
- Customer and persona research - reviews, surveys, support tickets, social listening
- Building the strategy deck: structuring findings, writing the narrative, making it client-ready
- Sitting in on strategy sessions with the Delivery Lead, capturing the reasoning behind each recommendation
- Maintaining the CRO test log and reporting on post-launch performance
Project and account admin (roughly 30%)
- Chasing and organising client assets, copy and product data
- Meeting notes, action logs and follow-ups
- Keeping project documentation and timelines current
- General coordination between clients and the delivery team
We've been specific about that 30% deliberately. It's a real part of the job and we'd rather you know now than find out in month two.
What we're looking for
Essential
- 1–3 years in an ecommerce, CRO or digital marketing role - agency or brand-side both work well
- Confident in GA4: you can pull the data and say what it means, not just export it
- Working knowledge of Shopify
- Genuinely good at writing and structuring a deck - clear thinking that survives contact with a client
- Organised enough that nothing falls through the cracks when three projects are live at once
Nice to have
- Exposure to CRO testing - you've run tests, or supported someone who has
- Interest in behavioural economics and consumer psychology. You don't need to have applied it professionally; curiosity and a willingness to learn the frameworks matter more
- Experience with Hotjar, Clarity, Figma or similar
- Some understanding of ecommerce commercials - AOV, CVR, LTV, margin
What you'll get out of it
- Direct mentoring from our Delivery Lead on strategy and client work, you'll be in the room for the thinking, not handed the output
- A defined path to Senior Ecommerce Strategy Executive, with the goal that you're drafting recommendations independently within 12-18 months
- Training budget for CRO, analytics and behavioural science courses
- Exposure to client meetings from early on
- [Holiday / pension / hybrid / other benefits]
Pay: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Bury (Greater Manchester, North West Region)
