PREE Electrical Engineering is looking for an experienced Industrial Electrician to join our growing team.
We are looking for someone with strong industrial experience who is confident with control panels, electrical fault finding and breakdowns, and who has the qualifications and experience required to act as our NICEIC Qualified Supervisor.
This is not a standard installation electrician role. A large part of the job involves working on industrial sites, diagnosing plant and machinery faults, carrying out repairs and modifications, and getting equipment back into operation.
What you'll be doing
Typical work will include:
- Industrial electrical fault finding and breakdown response
- Control panel fault finding, repair and modification
- Reading and understanding electrical drawings and schematics
- Fault finding on three-phase motors and machinery
- Motor control circuits
- Contactors, overloads, relays and control equipment
- Variable speed drives and soft starters
- PLC and control system fault diagnosis
- Sensors, limit switches and instrumentation
- Emergency stop and safety circuits
- Cable installation, containment, glanding and termination
- Electrical distribution systems and switchgear
- Inspection, testing and certification
- Planned preventative maintenance
- Generator and temporary power installations
- Installation and commissioning of industrial electrical systems
- Liaising directly with customers and site management
- Supervising and verifying electrical work where required
- Acting as NICEIC Qualified Supervisor for PREE Electrical Engineering
Our work is predominantly within quarries, asphalt plants, aggregates, manufacturing and other heavy industrial environments.
What we're looking for
You will need substantial experience as an industrial electrician and must be confident working independently.
You should be comfortable being presented with a machine or plant breakdown, understanding how the system operates and logically working through the problem to identify and repair the fault.
We are looking for someone who is confident with:
- Industrial control panels
- Control circuit fault finding
- Machinery breakdowns
- Three-phase electrical systems
- Motors and motor controls
- Variable speed drives
- Electrical schematics
- Industrial sensors and controls
- Inspection and testing
- Safe isolation
- Diagnosing faults on unfamiliar plant and machinery
Essential qualifications
Applicants should hold:
- Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services / Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment, or recognised equivalent
- Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification, or recognised equivalent
- Appropriate ECS/JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician card
- Qualifications, competence and experience suitable to act as an NICEIC Qualified Supervisor
- Full UK driving licence
Salary & Package
£55,000–£65,000+ per year depending on experience and qualifications
