Highborder Lodge is a residential dementia care home providing personal care to up to 40 residents. The service provides support to people requiring care and support, some of whom live with Dementia.
We are seeking a proactive and organised Deputy Manager to work very closely with the Registered Manager to oversee the day to day running of our beautiful Care Home all in line with legislative / regulatory requirements and company policies, procedures and practices
The Deputy Manager will also be required to be pro-active in terms of ensuring full occupancy of the Home as the required rates. This involves dealing with private and Local Authority enquiries, funding queries, assessments and the full admission process. It also requires a pro-active approach to fill rooms promptly to ensure full occupancy.
The Deputy Manager will also work closely with the Senior care staff. It may sometimes be necessary for the Deputy Manager to cover Senior shifts due to staff shortages. This would happen rarely if other cover could not be found.
The Deputy Manager will be a positive influence with our teams, and hold strong communication skills, whilst having a friendly and warm presence with all of our Residents. The Deputy Manager will be flexible, adaptable and be solutions focussed.
Key areas of focus are:
· To take responsibility for the Home in the absence of the Registered Manager
· Assisting with Recruitment and all things people
· To deliver a high standard of care to the service users
· To monitor and supervise staff on duty to ensure a high standard of care
· Monitoring night staff, doing spot checks as and when necessary
- Ensuring staff follow the correct infection prevention and control procedures including undertaking effective PPE donning and doffing supervisions in the event of an outbreak of an infectious disease
- Administering medication and ensuring the correct processes and procedures are followed in relation to this, including in relation to e-MAR records
- Delivery of high-quality medication training to new and existing staff, as refreshers are required
· Keep the Registered Manager appraised of any conduct or performance issues with staff and agreeing appropriate steps, including liaising with HR
- Safely deliver a service in line with legislative requirements and company policy and procedures, with the support of the Registered Manager;
- Have an awareness of best practice, changes in the law and legislation and changes in company policy. Apply this knowledge to day-to-day management and delivery of care
- Understand and monitor health and safety in the workplace with the support of the Registered Manager, linking in with the Health & Safety Team as appropriate
- Maintain full and accurate records and reporting systems in accordance with legal requirements and to ensure the effective running of the home
- Keep quality management and improvement systems up-to-date with the support of the Registered Manager
- Maintain the quality of the service by conducting regular and ad hoc audits on all aspects of the service
- Be prepared to work flexibly to ensure the safe delivery of the service
- Create a nurturing environment for our Service Users
