ROLE PURPOSE
The Home care Registered Nurse will deliver safe, person-centred nursing care in clients’ homes. The nurse will work within the NMC Code, the authorised care plan and their individual professional competence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver nursing care in accordance with the clinical care plan.
- Complete clinical observations and recognise deterioration.
- Administer medicines within professional scope and the authorised plan.
- Provide tracheostomy, ventilation, suction and oxygen support where competent.
- Support enteral feeding, epilepsy, diabetes, catheter, stoma and wound care where authorised.
- Maintain accurate electronic clinical records.
- Liaise with the Clinical Lead, families and external professionals.
- Support and supervise care workers where appropriate.
- Respond to emergencies and follow escalation plans.
- Report incidents, safeguarding concerns and clinical changes immediately.
- Participate in care reviews, supervision and competency reassessment.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Current Registered Nurse registration with the NMC.
- At least two years’ relevant ICU or complex-care experience.
- Demonstrable experience of tracheostomy or ventilation care.
- Evidence of recent clinical training and competence.
- Strong assessment, communication and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently in clients’ homes.
- Ability to follow detailed clinical and emergency plans.
- Ability to travel reliably throughout Birmingham and Solihull.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
- Previous community or domiciliary nursing experience.
- Experience in enteral feeding, suction, oxygen or cough-assist equipment.
- Experience in epilepsy and rescue medicines.
- Experience in diabetes and insulin administration.
- Experience in catheter, stoma, wound or complex bowel care.
- Experience supporting autistic people or people with a learning disability.
- Experience with electronic care-planning systems.

RECRUITMENT CHECKS
Appointment is subject to verified NMC registration, enhanced DBS and Adults’ Barred List checks where applicable, identity, right-to-work, employment-history, qualification and satisfactory reference checks.
Pay: £30.00-£36.00 per hour
