About the role
The FM Operations Manager manages the operational delivery of cleaning, janitorial, portering and waste management services across the university estate ensuring they run safely, efficiently and to consistently high standards.
The post holder will manage and support the FM Supervisors, oversee team performance, resolve operational challenges and ensure operational service continuity during busy periods and events.
Working closely with the Head of Facilities Management, this role helps maintain an excellent, reliable and customer focused facilities service across the estate.

The ideal candidate will bring strong operational leadership within cleaning, janitorial and portering services, with the confidence to coordinate teams across a busy and varied estate. A clear communicator with well‑developed interpersonal skills, they will demonstrate sound judgement, steady decision‑making and the ability to respond effectively to operational pressures and emerging issues.
A solid understanding of health and safety, industry standards and best practice is essential, alongside the ability to use systems, data and planning tools to maintain service quality. The role suits a professional who leads by example, builds constructive relationships with stakeholders, and is committed to delivering a reliable, customer‑focused and well‑presented campus environment.

Salary
£44,753 to £49,738 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting.
