Sliding Head CNC Programmer / Setter
Location: Bideford, North Devon
Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week (Days)
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
Friday: 8:00am – 12:00pm
Salary: £20.00–£22.00 per hour (£39,520–£43,472 per annum), depending on experience

We're looking for an experienced Sliding Head CNC Programmer/Setter who can hit the ground running. To be successful, you'll need:
- Proven experience programming and setting sliding head CNC machines.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong engineering knowledge with a focus on precision manufacturing.
- Experience introducing new products into production and improving machining processes.
- The ability to plan workloads, prioritise production and support the development of colleagues.
Experience with Citizen sliding head machines, Fanuc controls, Edgecam (or similar CAM software), and aerospace manufacturing would be highly advantageous.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager, you will play a key role in supporting production, introducing new products and driving continuous improvement within our Sliding Head machining department.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Programming and setting sliding head CNC machines for new and existing components.
- Managing New Product Introduction (NPI), including creating programmes, selecting tooling, proving out processes and introducing components into production.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce scrap, improve efficiency and minimise secondary operations.
- Planning workloads across the sliding head machines to ensure production priorities are achieved.
- Producing programme documentation and machine setting sheets.
- Training and supporting colleagues within the department.
- Maintaining the AS9100 programme database.
- Completing machine checks and production documentation in line with company procedures.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, quality and health and safety.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience programming and setting sliding head CNC machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience following manufacturing process sheets and route cards.
- Good general engineering knowledge.
- Basic IT skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience using Edgecam or equivalent CAM programming software.
- Experience programming Fanuc-controlled machines.
- Experience with Citizen sliding head machines.
- Previous experience manufacturing aerospace components.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems.
