Job Overview
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Cake Decorator to join our bakery team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cake design and a strong foundation in food production. This role involves transforming baked goods into visually stunning creations that delight our customers. The Cake Decorator will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring all products meet high standards of quality and presentation. Previous experience in culinary arts or bakery environments is preferred, but we welcome enthusiastic individuals eager to develop their skills.
Duties
- Decorate cakes and baked goods according to customer specifications or company standards, utilising various piping techniques, fondant, and edible decorations
- Prepare and assemble cakes, ensuring proper layering and finishing touches
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the decorating area in compliance with food safety regulations
- Assist in the preparation of basic cake batter, icing, and other related food preparation tasks as needed
- Collaborate with the baking team to ensure timely production of decorated goods for retail or special orders
- Monitor stock levels of decorating supplies and request replenishments as necessary
- Ensure all decorated products are presented attractively and meet quality standards before sale or delivery
Experience
- Previous experience in food production, baking, or cake decoration is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food safety practices within a bakery or kitchen environment
- Familiarity with culinary techniques related to cake decoration, including piping, fondant work, and colour coordination
- Experience working in a restaurant or hospitality setting is advantageous but not essential
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- A genuine passion for culinary arts and creative cake design is essential for success in this role
