Job Description
As a Nursery Assistant - Baby Room, you will deliver safe, attentive and nurturing childcare for babies from birth to two years within a modern, purpose-built nursery in Binfield, RG42. You will work alongside experienced and qualified Early Years practitioners, helping each baby feel secure and settled while following their individual feeding, sleeping, changing and personal-care routines.
The Baby Room has separate areas for mobile and non-mobile babies, a dedicated milk kitchen for safe bottle preparation and direct access to an enclosed baby garden. The room currently has capacity for approximately 18 children and is expected to grow to around 21 from September, giving you the opportunity to contribute to a developing team while maintaining personalised care.
The nursery follows the EYFS framework and combines childcare with curiosity-led, nature-inspired learning. You will help create age-appropriate experiences that encourage physical, social, emotional and communication development through responsive care, purposeful play and positive relationships. This is a supportive environment in which to build practical Early Years experience while learning from qualified practitioners.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, calm, caring and nurturing environment for babies from birth to two years
- Support individual feeding, sleeping, changing and personal-care routines
- Respond sensitively to each baby's needs and help children feel secure and settled
- Prepare and support age-appropriate play and EYFS learning experiences
- Encourage children's physical, social, emotional and communication development
- Observe children and share relevant developmental information with qualified practitioners
- Build positive and professional relationships with parents and carers
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control within the Baby Room
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety and nursery procedures
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and participate in training, planning and team activities
Essential Requirements
- You must already have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
- A formal Early Years qualification is welcomed but is not essential.
- Previous experience caring for babies or young children is required, with nursery, preschool or Baby Room experience desirable.
- Experience or a genuine interest in supporting babies from birth to two years within an Early Years environment.
- Confidence supporting feeding, changing, sleeping and personal-care routines, with awareness of EYFS, safeguarding, hygiene and health and safety.
- A kind, patient and dependable approach, with strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to use initiative appropriately while working collaboratively with experienced and qualified practitioners.
