Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to lead our payroll operations and ensure accurate, timely compensation for all employees. Duties
* Manage the end-to-end payroll process for multiple client accounts, ensuring payroll is processed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
* Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments, auto-enrolment pension requirements and relevant employment legislation.
* Review payroll calculations, including salaries, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions and statutory payments before final submission.
* Submit Real Time Information (RTI) returns and other statutory filings to HMRC within required deadlines.
* Liaise with HMRC, pension providers and other statutory bodies to resolve payroll-related matters.
* Provide professional payroll advice to clients on payroll legislation, tax codes, statutory entitlements and compliance requirements.
* Manage payroll onboarding for new clients, including system implementation, data migration and process planning.
* Monitor legislative changes and implement necessary updates to payroll procedures and internal controls.
* Develop and improve payroll processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy and client service.
* Produce payroll reports, management information and reconciliations for clients and senior management.
* Supervise, train and support payroll administrators and junior payroll staff, ensuring high standards of performance and professional development.
* Handle confidential employee and client information in accordance with GDPR and data protection requirements.
* Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, responding promptly to client queries and ensuring corrective action is taken where necessary.
* Collaborate with the accounts and tax departments to ensure integrated client service delivery.
* Participate in the evaluation and implementation of payroll software, automation tools and AI-assisted technologies to improve operation
Requirements
* Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or a related discipline.
* Professional payroll qualification such as CIPP is desirable but not mandatory.
* Moneysoft Software experience is a must.
* Minimum 5 years of significant experience managing payroll operations within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau.
* Comprehensive knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and statutory payments.
* Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail. * Experience using payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple payrolls simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
