Part-Time Professional Dog Walker – Oxford
Run Doggy Run is recruiting!
We are looking for a reliable, dog-loving person to join our team as a part-time professional dog walker, covering our Oxford round.
This is a self-employed position, working roughly 12–15 hours per week, mainly during weekday mornings.
The Role
You will be responsible for your own regular pack of approximately 4–6 dogs.
Your morning will involve:
- Collecting dogs from their homes
- Taking them out for a countryside group walk
- Safely managing a pack of friendly dogs
- Dropping each dog home afterwards
- Driving between customers around the Oxford area
We don't do boring street walks. Our walks are in fields, woodlands, meadows and other countryside locations, so you need to enjoy being outdoors and be prepared to get wet and muddy.
Once established, you will generally manage one pack each morning.
Hours
Monday to Friday
Approximately 12–15 hours per week.
Typical working times will be around:
9:00am – 11:30am / 12:00pm
Exact hours may vary slightly depending on the number of dogs, traffic and the day's route.
Earnings
This is a self-employed, commission-based position.
Expected earnings are approximately:
£150–£250 per week
There is potential to earn around £300 per week as your pack grows.
Your earnings will depend on the number of dogs you regularly walk.
As a self-employed contractor, you will be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance and will invoice Run Doggy Run for your work.
Vehicle & Equipment
Once fully trained, we will provide you with a fully equipped dog-walking van and the equipment needed to carry out the role.
You will not need to use your own vehicle for the dog walking.
You will, however, need to take the Run Doggy Run van home with you.
Because of this, location is very important.
We are mainly looking for somebody living in or very close to:
- Littlemore
- Cowley
- Iffley
- Possibly Headington
If you live significantly outside this area, the position is unlikely to be suitable.
Who We're Looking For
You need to be confident, reliable and comfortable taking responsibility for a group of dogs.
Ideally, you will:
- Have previous experience with dogs
- Understand basic dog behaviour and handling
- Be physically fit and comfortable walking outdoors every day
- Be happy working in all weather conditions
- Be confident driving a van
- Have a full UK driving licence
- Have a good manner with customers
- Be reliable and consistent
- Be comfortable working independently once trained
- Live locally to the Oxford area listed above
Experience working professionally with dogs is preferred, but the right attitude, confidence and reliability are just as important.
Full training will be provided before you take responsibility for your own pack.
About Run Doggy Run
Run Doggy Run specialises in countryside group dog walks.
Dogs are collected from their homes in our fully crated vans before heading out for approximately one hour of proper exercise in fields, woods and countryside locations.
Being a professional dog walker is a fantastic job, but it isn't an easy one.
You will be responsible for several dogs at once, spend a lot of time outdoors and need to make good decisions when situations change.
If you love dogs, enjoy being outdoors and like working independently, it can be an extremely rewarding role.
