We are looking for TWO new members to join our Pre Press team
The Wilkins Group is looking to recruit two people to join our friendly and hardworking Pre Press team at our Colwick site in Nottingham:
1. An Experienced Plate Maker
We are looking for an experienced Plate Maker with previous knowledge of Lithographic printing and Pre Press operations.
2. A Trainee Plate Maker
We are also looking for a Trainee Plate Maker who is keen to learn a specialist manufacturing skill and develop a career within Pre Press. Full training will be provided, with the possibility of an apprenticeship for the right person.
The Wilkins Group produces high-quality printed paperboard cartons for the food industry. Our Pre Press team plays an important role in the production process, preparing the printing plates and other elements required to keep our Litho printing presses running to a high standard.
For the Experienced Plate Maker
You will be responsible for producing high-quality printing plates and ensuring they are prepared accurately and on time for production.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Plate Maker
- Experience within a Litho printing or Pre Press environment
- Knowledge of Lithographic printing processes
- Experience operating plate-making equipment
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work accurately to job specifications
- A reliable and hardworking approach
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
For the Trainee Plate Maker
Previous Plate Making experience is not essential.
We're looking for someone who:
- Enjoys practical, hands-on work
- Has an interest in machinery, tools or manufacturing
- Has good attention to detail
- Takes pride in doing a job properly
- Is reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Can follow instructions and is willing to learn
- Is comfortable working on their feet and handling materials
- Works well as part of a team
- Has a positive attitude and is keen to develop new skills
Full training will be provided, and there is the possibility of an apprenticeship for the right candidate as they develop their skills and knowledge.
What both roles involve
Both positions will work closely with the wider Pre Press and production teams and will involve:
- Preparing and producing printing plates
- Operating plate-making machinery
- Working to production specifications and deadlines
- Checking work carefully to ensure quality standards are met
- Handling materials and finished plates safely
- Keeping the work area clean, tidy and organised
- Following all health & safety procedures
- Supporting the wider Pre Press team to ensure production runs smoothly
The Hours
The roles operate on a double-day shift pattern, rotating between morning and afternoon shifts.
Morning: 6:00am – 2:00pm
Friday: 6:00am – 1:30pm
Afternoon: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
Friday: 1:30pm – 9:00pm
