The role & what you will be doing:
We currently have an opportunity for multiple Chemical Manufacturing Operators (CMO) in the Operations team. Reporting to the Shift Manager, this role involves a wide range of tasks that include:
- Chemical plant manufacturing operations, including monitoring and control of operations in both manual and computerised systems.
- Liaison and teamwork with other team members to achieve the schedule of work.
- Product quality testing at intermediate and finished stages.
- Reporting problems to relevant parties and contributing diagnosis and/or solutions to assist the timely and efficient continuation of processing.
If successful in your application to become a CMO, you will need to demonstrate a flexible approach to work as you will be required to work a 12hr continuous shift system (days and nights) and take part in emergency response roles as directed by the company. These include; fire crew, incident control and first aider.
As a new Chemical Manufacturing Operator, you will be working as well as studying towards a Level 3 Process Industry Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship, which will combine the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a CMO at Briar Chemicals. This will require work-based training and home study to achieve competence as an operator.
What you will bring:
The production schedule is extremely demanding offering both physical and mental challenges.
Essential qualifications:
- GCSE Grade C and above/ Grade 9-4 in English and Maths. Evidence of these qualifications will need to be provided prior to interview.
Preference will be given to applicants who are able to demonstrate the following skills:
- Relevant experience in a similar process industry
- A thorough understanding of Health and Safety practices
- A methodical and organised approach to work
- City & Guilds and NVQ or equivalent qualifications in Processing Industries Operations.
- You will need to be committed to achieving high work standards.
