We have a fantastic opportunity for a reliable and passionate kitchen assistant to join our growing catering business.
The Welshman’s Lunch is an independent business supplying wholesale to companies plus undertaking private & corporate catering in Newport and surrounding areas.
As our kitchen assistant you will be working as part of a team, supporting with the daily aspects of the catering business.
You will assist in the day to day running of the kitchen and comply with all hygiene and health and safety programs and regulations.
Our future kitchen assistant will have -

Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
The ability to be flexible with working days to support the needs of the business.
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
A basic Food Hygiene NVQ Level 2 or be prepared to work towards one, along with knowledge of maintaining a clean, tidy, safe and hygienic environment.
Duties will include
- Assisting with the smooth running of all the kitchen production areas.
- Food preparation.
- Reporting any equipment faults.
- Complying with the daily cleaning rotas.
- Supporting with off site private events when necessary.
- To undertake general cleaning duties throughout the kitchen, including wiping work surfaces, mopping floors and emptying bins.
- Ensuring that at the end of the shift the kitchen is ready for the next shift.
The position is for 16 hours a week. The ability to be available for overtime on occasion would be necessary. The pay range matches national minimum wage.
The ability to drive and your own vehicle would be beneficial.
