Book-keeper — Self-Employed, Part-Time
Edinburgh | £20–£30 per hour, depending on experience
On-site only | 1.5 days per week (Tuesday and Friday, 12 hours/week)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, self-employed Book-keeper to join a small nursing home in Edinburgh. This is an on-site role requiring at least 5 years' previous bookkeeping experience, including Xero accounts and payroll, and a strong understanding of accountancy processes.
You'll need to be highly organised, deadline-driven, and confident managing the full bookkeeping function independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales, Purchase and Nominal Ledger processing through to payment allocation
- Reconciliation of customer, bank and petty cash accounts
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and occupancy levels (including year-end accruals)
- Payroll processing, pensions and tax for approximately 50 staff
- Timesheet calculations against contracts
- Liaising with clients, HMRC, Nest Pensions and accountants
- Invoicing suppliers and debtors, and chasing outstanding payments
- Liaising with Directors and the Home Manager as required
About You
- At least 5 years' bookkeeping experience, including Xero accounts and payroll
- Strong understanding of accountancy processes
- Highly organised with excellent attention to deadlines
- Previous experience in a nursing home or care setting preferred but not essential
