Job Overview
We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Kitchen Prep Assistant to join our kitchen team.
The successful candidate will mainly be responsible for vegetable preparation and supporting daily kitchen operations. This role requires someone who works efficiently, maintains excellent hygiene standards, and is able to perform well in a busy kitchen environment.
Experience preparing vegetables in a commercial kitchen is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Wash, peel, trim and prepare vegetables to company standards.
- Cut vegetables and other ingredients according to required sizes and specifications.
- Assist with food preparation for daily service.
- Receive and put away kitchen deliveries.
- Lift and move heavy boxes and kitchen supplies safely.
- Keep all preparation areas clean, organised and hygienic.
- Follow food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.
- Help maintain stock rotation (FIFO) and proper storage.
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
- Carry out other reasonable kitchen duties as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in vegetable preparation or kitchen prep is preferred.
- Able to use knives confidently and safely.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and perform well under pressure.
- Physically fit and comfortable lifting heavy deliveries.
- Reliable, hardworking and punctual.
- Able to follow instructions and maintain consistent cutting standards.
- Flexible and willing to help the team when needed.
- Right to work in the UK.
