The Role
We are looking for a Commercial Roadside Assistance Technician to join our team.
This is primarily a mobile, field-based role, attending commercial vehicle (HGVs, Bus, Coach and light commercial) breakdowns and carrying out roadside repairs to get vehicles safely back on the road wherever possible. Company Van will be provided. This will also include visiting customer sites to complete safety inspections and completing repairs at our own site.
As we continue to grow, our services are expanding beyond roadside assistance. We undertake regular vehicle maintenance and repairs, and we have recently invested in vehicle lifts, giving our technicians the opportunity to carry out more substantial repairs.
You'll have a varied working day — no two breakdowns are the same — and you'll play a key role in keeping our customers' vehicles moving.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Attending commercial vehicle breakdowns and roadside assistance call-outs
- Diagnosing faults efficiently and accurately
- Carrying out roadside repairs and getting vehicles safely back on the road
- Completing routine servicing, maintenance and inspections
- Carrying out mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance
- Working on a range of commercial vehicles
- Using diagnostic equipment and fault-finding techniques
- Maintaining a professional and helpful approach with customers
- Working safely and keeping the company vehicle and equipment in good condition
- Supporting the wider team.
The ideal Candidate
We are looking for more than just someone who can turn a spanner.
We want someone who fits our values.
You will be:
- Hard working — you take pride in getting the job done properly
- A team player — you support your colleagues and understand that we're building this together
- Reliable — our customers depend on us, and we need to be able to depend on you
- Practical and capable — you're confident diagnosing problems and finding solutions
- Customer focused — you understand the importance of representing the business professionally
- Flexible — roadside recovery doesn't always go to plan, and sometimes the job takes longer than expected
- Driven to succeed — you're looking for an opportunity to work hard, develop and earn well
- Progress - We believe in progression. After 6 months with T I Recovery, we’ll invest in your development by providing access to industry-recognised IVR training courses. Our aim is to help you gain valuable recovery industry qualifications, expand your technical knowledge and build your experience, giving you the skills and confidence to progress within the business.
Commercial vehicle experience is highly desirable. Experience with HGVs, buses, coaches, vans or other commercial vehicles would be particularly beneficial.
Relevant qualifications and a strong mechanical background are preferred, but attitude, work ethic and reliability are just as important to us.
Working Pattern
The role operates on a 1 week on / 1 week off on-call rotation.
Your standard working hours are:
Monday – Friday: 08:00 – 18:00
You will have a guaranteed 50-hour working week, with additional on-call and overtime opportunities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to put the hours in and be rewarded accordingly.
What We Offer
- Very competitive rates of pay
- Guaranteed 50-hour working week
- Additional on-call pay
- Additional standby for on call week.
- Overtime opportunities
- A growing business with genuine opportunities for progression
- Varied work across roadside recovery, repair and maintenance
- Company van kitted with compressor.
- Access to increasingly capable workshop facilities, including vehicle lifts
- The opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of its growth
- A team where your work and contribution are genuinely valued
- A company that understands the commercial vehicle industry from an operator's perspective
