We are looking for a dedicated and responsible part time animal care assistant to join our small team at Tora’s.
We are a professional breeder of Australian Labradoodles with over 25 years of experience in this field. We are passionate about ethically producing and raising well rounded family pets, therapy and assistance dogs - giving them the best possible start in life during the 8 weeks they are here with us. We are looking for someone with an interest in this industry who is eager to learn.
The ideal candidate, above all else should have a passion for dogs and puppies and have some experience with dogs, either professionally or through pet ownership. Alongside this, you should be confident working both alone and as part of a team in a busy, fast paced environment. You should be good at following instructions, infection protocols and have a high attention to detail with excellent cleanliness. A kind, gentle and caring nature is essential as you will be caring for newborn up to 8 week old puppies and their mothers.
This is an extremely rewarding job but also a demanding one. You will be on your feet for the majority of the day and required to work both inside and outside and exercise dogs in all weather conditions, therefore this job does require a decent level of physical fitness.
You will be required to work by yourself, on weekends and over holiday periods including bank and public holidays. Please only apply if you can commit to this.
Full training will be provided but the ideal candidate should be confident in handling all kinds of dogs and have a basic knowledge of their behaviour.
You must hold a full UK drivers license as we are up a bumpy farm track with no public transport close by.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to;
- Daily cleaning, care and socialisation of Mums & pups
- Preparing meals and feeding
- Observing the health and behaviour of all dogs & puppies and reporting any concerns
- Daily deep cleaning and hosing of shared areas
- Administering basic medications/treatments as instructed such as worming
- Caring for and exercising adult dogs staying with us
- Basic grooming
- Record keeping
The successful candidate will work on a set rotating schedule as follows:
Week 1 - Friday, Sunday & Monday
Week 2 - Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday
There may be opportunities for additional weekday shifts and holiday cover for the right person.
