We are looking for a highly professional full-time Bar Supervisor to join our Food & Beverage team at The Mitre, Hampton Court.
A refined, relaxed boutique hotel on the banks of the River Thames next to Hampton Court Palace. Easily commutable by train or car-this as a great place to work and become part of the Signet family. We offer a generous Tronc of about £2,500 per year, paid monthly with your normal pay, (if you work full time, pro rata amount for part-time) from your first day at work!
You will…
-
Lead from the front (and probably from behind the bar) – set the tone for the team by creating an energetic, positive and professional environment where everyone knows their Espresso Martini from their espresso.
-
Keep the bar buzzing – support the Restaurant Manager with the day-to-day running of the operation, making sure service is smooth, standards are high and guests are having a rather good time.
-
Work some rota magic – put together clever rotas that make sure we’ve got the right people in the right places, without letting the labour budget run away with the Champagne trolley.
-
Turn good bartenders into great ones – coach, train and develop the team, sharing your knowledge, giving plenty of encouragement and helping everyone become the best version of themselves behind the bar.
-
Obsess over the details (in a good way) – from beautifully presented drinks to impeccable service and knowing your products inside out, you’ll make sure our standards never slip.
-
Be the keeper of the cellar – manage ordering, deliveries and supplier relationships, while keeping the cellar organised enough that even a sommelier would be impressed.
-
Keep an eye on the numbers – complete regular stock takes, keep wastage under control and make sure we’re making the most of every bottle, garnish and drop.
-
Know your licence from your lime – make sure licensing, Health & Safety, food safety and all our company procedures are followed. We like to have fun, but we also like to keep things legal.
-
Be a team player – hospitality is rarely about staying neatly in your own lane, so you’ll happily roll up your sleeves and support the wider F&B team whenever needed.
About You
You’re a natural host, a confident leader and someone who genuinely gets a buzz from hospitality. You know that a great bar is about much more than what’s in the glass. It’s about the people, the atmosphere, the little details and the stories guests take away with them.
You’re organised without being robotic, commercially savvy without losing your personality and passionate about helping your team grow.
Ideally, you’ll have…
-
A few good stories behind you – previous supervisory experience in a premium bar, hotel or restaurant would be ideal.
-
A serious appreciation for the good stuff – with strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits and premium beverages.
-
The ability to rally the troops – excellent leadership and organisational skills, with the confidence to take charge when needed.
-
A head for numbers – experience with stock control, ordering and rota management.
-
A hands-on attitude – you’re not afraid to get stuck in, and you notice the little things others might miss.
-
A genuine love of helping people grow – you’ll enjoy training, coaching and watching your team flourish.
-
A WSET Level 2 qualification would be lovely, but if you don’t have one yet, we’re happy to hear from someone who’s keen to work towards it.
Most importantly, you’ll bring personality. We’re not looking for a robot who can recite the cocktail menu backwards. We’re looking for someone who knows their craft, cares about their people and loves creating the kind of bar experience that makes guests think, “We’ll just have one more…”
