We are currently recruiting for two 25 hour per week Kitchen Support Assistants to join the Hospitality department at our Freemen's Park Campus.
One role will be based within our Bakery and Patisserie facilities, supporting practical teaching sessions and ensuring specialist bakery areas are maintained to a professional standard. The second is a split role, working within our training kitchens and spending two days per week supporting the day-to-day operation of our commercial Zest Café, assisting with food preparation, service and customer care.
These are essential roles within our Hospitality department, helping to ensure our training kitchens, bakery and commercial facilities operate efficiently and provide an excellent learning environment for students.
Your responsibilities will include maintaining high standards of hygiene, operating the dishwasher for crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils, cleaning kitchen surfaces, floors and equipment, disposing of waste and recycling, receiving and storing food deliveries, and transporting ingredients and equipment between storage areas and teaching kitchens. The successful candidates will also play a key role in ensuring compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and cleaning procedures. The Kitchen Support Assistant working within Zest Café will additionally support food service, customer service and the smooth day-to-day operation of the café.
The ideal candidates will have previous experience working in a commercial kitchen, bakery, café or similar hospitality environment and be committed to delivering excellent customer service. You should be able to work efficiently under pressure, demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills, and have the physical capability to undertake manual handling and periods of standing throughout the working day.
A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable but not essential.
