**General Manager (Retail + TCG Events) — Geekiam Collectables (Birtley, Gateshead)**

### About Geekiam Collectables
We’re a friendly, geeky TCG and collectables store with a strong community focus — Pokémon League, weekly events, and an inclusive, neurodivergent-friendly environment. We’re growing and expanding our events space, so we need a General Manager who can run the shop *and* the community side confidently.
### What you’ll be responsible for
- **Day-to-day store leadership:** opening/closing, standards, customer experience, problem-solving
- **Team management:** rotas, training, feedback, keeping the team aligned and calm under pressure
- **Events & community:** running tournaments/leagues smoothly, setting expectations, handling conflict fairly
- **Stock & ops:** receiving deliveries, stock organisation, merchandising, shrink control, keeping back-of-house functional
- **Sales & service:** leading by example on the shop floor, making sure customers feel welcome and looked after
- **Owner handover:** taking responsibility so the directors aren’t stuck firefighting daily ops
### What we’re looking for (must-have)
- Proven experience **managing a retail environment** (or similar fast-paced customer-facing operation)
- Confident leading a small team and making decisions without needing constant approval
- Comfortable working **weekends** and running busy events
- Calm, fair, and consistent — especially when dealing with disagreements or rule disputes
- Organised enough to keep stock/ops tidy and repeatable
### Nice-to-have
- TCG knowledge (Pokémon / MTG / Lorcana / One Piece) or experience in hobby retail
- Experience running events, communities, clubs, or leagues
- Experience creating simple processes (checklists, standards, “how we do things here”) -
Pay: £38,000.00 per year
