What’s the role all about?
As Engagement Officer for Waste and Recycling, you will play a key role in increasing awareness, participation, and engagement in recycling and responsible waste disposal across North East Lincolnshire. Working closely with communities, stakeholders, and council colleagues, you will help deliver the council's green agenda and contribute towards creating a circular economy. You will develop and deliver initiatives that encourage residents and organisations to adopt better waste and recycling practices while ensuring communities are informed, involved, and empowered to make a positive environmental impact.
What will your day look like?
You will be meeting with community groups and local stakeholders, developing engagement programmes, researching new opportunities to improve recycling rates, analysing waste data, and working with communications colleagues to create campaigns that reach new audiences. You'll support innovative projects, gather feedback from residents, monitor outcomes, and help turn ideas into practical initiatives that encourage sustainable behaviours across North East Lincolnshire.
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for someone with strong community engagement experience and a passion for creating positive change. You'll be a confident communicator who can build effective relationships with a variety of audiences and stakeholders. Experience delivering projects and working collaboratively with partners, volunteers, and communities is essential. You'll be highly organised, able to work independently, and possess strong analytical skills to interpret information and identify opportunities for improvement. Knowledge of waste, recycling, or environmental services would be advantageous, but most importantly, you'll be committed to helping communities make a difference.
