Altrad are seeking an experienced and commercially capable Contract Manager to support the effective administration and management of NEC3 contracts for the MEH Alliance at Sizewell C.
This role will be based in Bristol and will provide commercial and governance support throughout the delivery phase of the project. Working closely with Supply Chain Managers and project teams, you will support the management of compensation events, cost control, supplier performance, contractual documentation and governance requirements, ensuring robust contract administration and effective commercial management from contract award through to completion and close-out.
Key Deliverables / Accountabilities:
- Administer NEC3 contracts from contract award through to completion and close-out.
- Manage compensation events in accordance with NEC3 processes, including quotation assessment and negotiation.
- Develop and maintain cost baselines to support the evaluation of supplier quotations and compensation event submissions.
- Undertake detailed analysis of supplier quotations, validating assumptions, quantities, rates and alignment with the agreed scope.
- Apply strong Quantity Surveying skills to assess cost impacts arising from change, variations and claims.
- Benchmark compensation event quotations against contract baselines and relevant market norms where appropriate.
- Monitor supplier performance against contractual obligations, including cost, quality, safety and programme requirements.
- Manage cost forecasting and commitment tracking for allocated contracts.
- Ensure contract risks are identified, monitored, managed and escalated appropriately.
- Maintain accurate and robust contract records, correspondence and governance documentation.
- Ensure contractual documentation is maintained in accordance with project governance and documentation requirements.
- Work closely with Supply Chain Managers and wider project teams to ensure supplier activities support programme delivery.
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to support effective decision-making throughout the delivery phase.
- Support dispute avoidance and resolution through proactive contract management and commercial negotiation.
- Ensure compensation events, change and commercial matters are accurately recorded, progressed and reported.
- Support the effective management of contractual obligations and ensure appropriate governance processes are followed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of contract management, commercial processes and governance arrangements.
Key Requirements / Qualifications:
- Strong commercial and contract management experience within major infrastructure, engineering or nuclear projects.
- Demonstrated experience administering NEC contracts and managing compensation events.
- Strong Quantity Surveying capability, including cost analysis, valuation and change management.
- Proven experience developing cost baselines and evaluating contractor and supplier quotations.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
- Membership of RICS or an equivalent professional body is desirable.
- Experience working within regulated industries or major infrastructure programmes is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of NEC3 contract principles and commercial governance.
- Excellent analytical and cost management skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong commercial negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to assess complex commercial information and provide clear, commercially sound recommendations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across supply chain, commercial and project teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate contractual records within a complex project environment.
