The Role – Infield Service and Support - Marine Engineer (Inboard/Outboard) We’re looking for an experienced Marine Engineer with a keen eye for quality and a sharpe mind for solving problems. In this role you will be working to trouble shoot and resolve issues both infield and on site for new boat builders and large trade accounts as well as some in workshop repairs. To succeed, you will need a strong diagnostics capability and communication skills, have a good eye for detail and be organised.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostics, servicing and maintenance on inboard and outboard engines
- Major repairs and complete overhauls, including:
- Engine rebuilds
- Gearbox rebuilds
- Installation/removal work as required (engines/gearboxes and related systems)
- Work across wider boat systems (e.g., fuel, cooling, electrical/charging, controls, steering)
- Accurate job documentation and quality checks with strong attention to detail
- Maintain high workshop standards: safety, cleanliness, tooling care and best practice

- Proven experience as a marine engineer/technician (inboard/outboard)
- Strong diagnostics and fault-finding ability
- Confidence with new installations
- Broad marine systems knowledge and a “can-do” mindset
- High attention to detail and pride in doing things properly
- Team-first attitude and professionalism with customers/colleagues
Training & Development Because we work across multiple franchises, you’ll receive ongoing training with leading marine brands (including Volvo Penta / Honda / Suzuki / Tohatsu).
Skill scope:
- Qualified marine engineer with experience
- Inboard/Outboard engine experience
- Able to fit service, repair and rebuild marine engines
- Confident with 12v and 24v DC electrics and electronics.
- Attention to detail
- Work well with others and alone
- Clean, tidy.
Preferred qualifications/ experience:
- NVQ3 or equivalent in marine engineering.
- 5 years’ experience
- Inboard/Outboard experience
- Inboard/Outboard manufactures certificates ( advantage)
- Experience with Garmin, Raymarine electronics.
- RYA powerboat 2
