About the Job
We are looking for a reliable and meticulous cleaner to help maintain Smart Gym's reputation for providing a spotless, welcoming environment for our members. This is a part-time position that requires a daily commitment. You will come in for 1 hour every day for basic upkeep, and stay for 2 hours one day a week to do a more thorough deep clean. All cleaning equipment and hygeine supplies are provided by Smart Gym.
A quick note on teamwork: While our crèche supervisors and gym members do their best to sanitise surfaces and tidy up after themselves and the kids on a daily basis, they are not responsible for the cleaning. As our dedicated cleaner, making sure the facility actually meets our hygiene standards will be entirely your responsibility.
Daily cleans (1-hour shift)
- Wipe down surfaces: Use our cleaning supplies to wipe down gym equipment and coffee lounge (tables, high chairs, jumparoo, worktop).
- Clean the mirrors: Wipe down the mirrors to remove smudges and fingerprints.
- Crèche/play area : Tidy up the kids' room, wipe down high-touch surfaces with our sanitiser, and do a quick sweep or vacuum.
- Sweep and mop: Do a quick sweep/vaccum and mop of the main build-up areas and entrances (vaccum welcome mats).
- Bins: Empty all the bins and put in new bags.
- Check the shower rooms: Wipe the sinks and toilets, and restock soap, toilet paper, paper towels if required.
- Tidy up: Put away any loose equipment left on the floor, and dispose of any general mess (our members generally show good gym etiquette but we can’t rely on this).
Weekly deep clean (2-hour shift)
- Scrub shower rooms: Thorough cleaning of the toilets, sinks and showers (including drains and hard-to-reach areas)
- Detailed floor cleaning: Thoroughly mop and vaccum all the floors
- Clean under and behind machines: Vacuum and mop underneath and behind all heavy equipment where dust builds up (you will not be expected to lift treadmills - they have an incline feature that exposes the floor).
- Crèche/play area deep clean: Thoroughly wash the crash mats, scrub the back wall, sanitise the toys, and deep clean the floors.
- Dusting: Clean the vents, the tops of the equipment, and bases of the equipment.
What we’re looking for
- Reliability & shift coverage: We need someone who will consistently show up for their daily shift. If you are sick or need time off, it is your responsibility to arrange for someone to cover your shift.
- Attention to detail: You notice things like smudged glass, empty paper towel dispensers, and dust behind a machine.
- Physical ability: You are comfortable being on your feet, bending, and doing standard cleaning tasks.
- Experience: Previous cleaning or janitorial experience is desirable.
Pay: £15.00 per hour
