Maintenance / Handyman – Children’s Residential Homes

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Maintenance/Handyman to provide ongoing maintenance support across two children’s residential homes, located approximately 10 minutes apart.
This is an ad-hoc role, so there will not be work every day. Maintenance jobs will be allocated as and when required, with the expectation that requests can be attended to and completed within a 24-hour turnaround, where reasonably possible.
Responsibilities
- Carry out general repairs and property maintenance
- Painting and decorating
- Minor plumbing repairs
- Repairing doors, locks, fixtures and fittings
- Furniture assembly and repairs
- General upkeep and maintenance of both properties
- Identify and report any issues requiring specialist or qualified contractors
- Ensure work is completed to a good standard and within agreed timescales
- Maintain a safe, clean and presentable environment within the homes
Requirements
- Previous experience as a handyman, maintenance worker or similar
- Good range of practical maintenance skills
- Reliable and responsive, with the ability to attend jobs at short notice
- Good attention to detail and pride in your work
- Able to work independently
- Own tools and reliable transport preferred
- Must hold a valid Enhanced DBS
- Must be professional, trustworthy and comfortable working within children’s residential settings
