Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Civil / Structural Principal Engineer to join the team in Middlesbrough.
The successful candidate will support civil and structural engineering and design activities across projects, working collaboratively with Principal/Lead Engineers, project teams, clients and other disciplines to deliver high-quality, cost-effective engineering solutions.
Key Deliverables:
- Develop and prepare detailed civil and structural design documents, including layouts, reports and calculations.
- Support Principal/Lead Engineers in reviewing and checking design deliverables.
- Participate in site visits and surveys to gather information for design development.
- Engage with cross-disciplinary teams and clients to ensure project milestones are met efficiently and safely.
- Generate and present technical documentation and reports, sharing technical insights and project progress.
- Uphold the highest standards of quality and safety in line with industry regulations and client requirements.
- Contribute to identifying and delivering work process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Deliver accurate and high-quality civil and structural design documentation.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes and client requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in civil and structural engineering.
- Manage multiple tasks effectively and work independently while contributing positively to the wider project team.
Key Requirements / Qualifications:
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering, such as an MEng or BEng (Hons), or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer with a relevant professional institution, or working towards Chartership.
- Strong knowledge of civil and structural design principles.
- Familiarity with STAAD Pro or similar design and analysis software.
- Understanding of materials and construction processes used in civil and structural engineering.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
- A self-starter who can also thrive in a team environment.
