We are looking for a kind, reliable and experienced Night Care Assistant to provide overnight support for a lovely elderly gentleman living with dementia based near Cameron Toll.
This is a waking night role, working from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am, where your primary responsibility will be to ensure he remains safe, comfortable and reassured throughout the night. He is generally settled but requires someone to keep an eye on him, offer gentle reassurance if he wakes, and assist with basic personal care, such as helping him to the toilet when needed.
His wife also lives at home and may occasionally appreciate a little reassurance or practical support during the night, so we're looking for someone with a calm, compassionate and caring approach.
This position would suit someone looking to earn some extra income while making a genuine difference to the lives of an older couple in their own home.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous professional care experience (essential).
- Have experience supporting people living with dementia.
- Be patient, compassionate and understanding.
- Be reliable, trustworthy and confident working independently.
- Have a calm and reassuring manner.
- Hold a full driving licence and have access to their own reliable transport (essential).
The role includes:
- Providing overnight supervision to ensure safety and wellbeing.
- Assisting with toileting and other basic personal care as required.
- Offering reassurance and companionship if needed during the night.
- Providing occasional support and reassurance to his wife.
- Maintaining a calm, safe and comfortable environment.
This role would suit:
· Experienced care assistants who already work part time and want to supplement their income with a regular night shift.
· Retired or semi-retired carers or nurses who still enjoy caring but no longer want long or physically demanding shifts.
· Healthcare assistants working in hospitals or care homes who are looking for a quieter, one-to-one care role.
· Domiciliary care workers who prefer consistent hours with one client instead of travelling between multiple visits.
· People returning to work after a career break who have previous care experience and want a manageable number of hours.
· Parents with older children whose family commitments allow them to work overnight while their partner is at home.
· Students in nursing or allied health professions may be interested, but only if they already have the professional care experience you're requiring
If you have a caring nature, experience in care and a genuine desire to help people remain safely in their own home, we'd love to hear from you. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide one-to-one care and make a meaningful difference to a lovely couple.
