Build practical business operations experience while working directly with a Senior Operations Manager and gaining exposure to managers, consultants and directors.
CityEnds is recruiting a Business Operations Assistant to support the day-to-day organisation and performance of our growing Birmingham business. This is a permanent, salaried position designed for someone who wants to develop their commercial awareness, business knowledge and operational management capability.
You will receive direct training and support while learning how priorities are managed, performance is monitored, projects are coordinated and business processes are improved.

About CityEnds
CityEnds is a Birmingham estate agency specialising in residential property sales and lettings.
As the company continues to grow, we are looking for a driven and results-focused Business Operations Assistant to support the day-to-day running of the business and work closely with our Senior Operations Manager.
We are looking for someone we can invest time and training into. In return, we need an individual who is proactive, dependable and prepared to accept responsibility for their work.
The Opportunity
This is an entry-level Business Operations opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career within a professional and commercial environment.
You will work closely with the Senior Operations Manager, supporting daily priorities, ongoing projects and the wider organisation of the business. You will also have opportunities to work alongside managers, consultants and directors, giving you a broader understanding of how different parts of a growing company operate together.
The position will give you practical exposure to:
- How operational priorities and deadlines are managed
- How business performance is recorded and reviewed
- How managers coordinate people, projects and resources
- How operational decisions affect customers, employees and business results
- How inefficient processes are identified and improved
- How accountability and consistent follow-up support business growth
As your knowledge and capability develop, you may be given greater responsibility for coordinating projects, supporting business improvements and helping other team members complete operational priorities.
The long-term objective is to develop a capable individual towards an Operations Manager position, where they may eventually manage their own projects and support their own team. This is not a guaranteed promotion. Development will depend on performance, capability, accountability, available opportunities and the requirements of the business.
Main Responsibilities
As a Business Operations Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the business and helping ensure operational tasks are completed accurately and on time
- Working closely with the Senior Operations Manager on daily priorities, business requirements and ongoing projects
- Maintaining accurate company records, spreadsheets, databases and internal systems
- Coordinating diaries, meetings, appointments and team schedules
- Preparing reports, presentations, internal documents and performance updates
- Communicating professionally with customers, suppliers, clients and different departments
- Monitoring outstanding tasks, deadlines and operational priorities, following up where necessary
- Processing paperwork, invoices, purchase orders, expenses and other administrative documents
- Supporting the onboarding of new employees by preparing documents and coordinating training arrangements
- Identifying inefficient processes and suggesting practical ways to improve organisation, communication and results
You will also provide general Business Support and Business Administration assistance to managers and the wider team when required.
Who We Are Looking For
Previous operations experience and a university degree are not essential. We are more interested in your attitude, judgement, organisation and willingness to learn.
This role may suit:
- A recent graduate looking for a Graduate Operations or Business Operations position
- Someone looking to begin a career in Business Administration, Business Support or Project Coordination
- An entry-level candidate who wants practical exposure to how a company is managed
- Someone moving from hospitality, retail, customer service, sales or administration into a professional business environment
- A team leader or supervisor looking to develop broader commercial and operational experience
- A candidate interested in progressing towards an Operations Coordinator or management position over time
To succeed in the role, you should be:
- Proactive and willing to take appropriate action without needing constant direction
- Comfortable accepting responsibility for your tasks and decisions
- Accountable for successful results as well as mistakes or missed expectations
- Honest, dependable and committed to completing what you agree to do
- Organised and capable of managing several priorities and deadlines
- Professional when communicating with colleagues, customers and external contacts
- Interested in understanding how businesses operate, develop and improve
- Open to feedback and willing to apply what you learn
- Able to identify problems and suggest realistic, practical solutions
- Comfortable working with documents, spreadsheets and internal systems
We value people who communicate honestly when something has gone wrong, take responsibility and focus on finding a solution. You will not be expected to know everything from the beginning, but you will be expected to ask questions, learn from feedback and take your responsibilities seriously.
