The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Capital Projects team on a 12 month fixed term contract.
Based at our Ashington manufacturing site, you will play a key role in delivering major capital investment projects across multiple European manufacturing facilities. The role may require occasional travel to sites in Sweden and Spain, working closely with global engineering, technology licensor, operations and project teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded Project Manager with a strong engineering background and experience delivering complex capital projects within manufacturing or process industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution and successful delivery of capital investment projects from concept through to completion.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets and resource plans.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders across multiple European manufacturing sites.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with agreed specifications.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and implement mitigation plans where required.
- Manage project governance, reporting and communication with senior stakeholders.
- Support procurement activities, contractor selection and supplier performance management.
- Manage project change control and ensure accurate project documentation is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Promote the use of standardised project management processes, tools and best practices.
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement, licensors, EHS and Finance teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Support commissioning, handover and project close out activities.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience managing capital projects within manufacturing, chemical, process, industrial or engineering environments.
- Demonstrable experience delivering complex engineering projects within live manufacturing facilities.
- Strong understanding of project planning, budgeting, scheduling and risk management.
- Manage interfaces between the technology licensor, EPC contractor and AkzoNobel projects & operations team.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to manage project costs and change effectively.
- Experience working within health and safety regulated environments.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Degree qualified in Mechanical, Chemical or Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Project Management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2 or PMP.
- Proven experience delivering capital projects in continuous chemical processing or similar continuous process manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and contractor management.
- Experience delivering international or multi-site capital projects.
