Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal/Trainee Solicitor to support one solicitor in an extremely busy private practice. This role is dependant on experience. The appropriate candidate would commence work as a paralegal with a guaranteed trainee contract after 6 months. The role offers an opportunity for individuals looking to develop their legal career, gain practical experience, and work closely with a highly experienced solicitor. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of legal tasks, ensuring smooth case management and supporting the delivery of high-quality legal services. The main areas of practice will include Family Law (including Children Act 1989 applications), Financial Remedy, Civil Litigation, Wills & Probate and Immigration work. Full training will be provided ensuring the right candidate learns and progresses through each of these areas of speciality. You will work side by side with a solicitor, supporting their caseload and liaising with clients and third parties. Communication skills and proficiency of English are essential.
Responsibilities
- Taking telephone calls and diarising appointments
- Conduct legal research using various resources, including online databases and legal publications
- Prepare and organize legal documents, correspondence, and case files with precision and attention to detail
- Assist in drafting contracts, pleadings, statements, applications forms and other legal paperwork under supervision, including learning various online data submissions used by myHMCTS, CE-Filing and Home Office applications.
- Manage diaries, case schedules, deadlines, and appointments efficiently through effective time management
- Communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, and external partners to facilitate case progress
- Support the solicitor during court proceedings by preparing necessary documentation and summaries
- Maintain accurate records using Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook to ensure seamless workflow including attendance notes and time keeping
Requirements
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information clearly in English
- Knowledge of a second language is helpful. Farsi is a preferred second language due to the firm attracting a significant Farsi speaking clientele.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) with excellent organizational skills
- Basic understanding of IT systems relevant to legal practice and document management
- Exceptional time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a busy environment
- Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in all work
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Ability to work under stress and with multiple deadlines
- A proactive attitude with eagerness to learn and develop within the legal field
Qualifications and experience*
- Strong academic law background preferred.*
- 6 months experience as Paralegal is preferred, however individuals without prior experience, who hold Bachelor's degree in law and have passed SQE 1 or LPC will also be considered for initial paralegal position
Pay: £28,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
