About the Role
Hollymount Residential and Dementia Care Centre is looking for an organised, dependable Bookkeeper to take ownership of our billing, credit control and reconciliation. This is a part-time, office-based position, working from our dedicated finance and admin office in the grounds of the home in Blackburn. You'll work independently day to day, with close support from the Director and our accountants, particularly at the start while we hand things over properly.
The focus is simple and clear: get invoices out accurately, keep on top of what's owed, and keep the books reconciled. If you're a self-starter who takes pride in a clean, up-to-date ledger, this role will suit you.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise and issue invoices to families, self-funding residents, councils and the NHS
- Credit control: chase outstanding balances, agree payment plans, and resolve billing queries with families and funders sensitively
- Reconcile bank accounts and ledgers, and work through the current reconciliation backlog
- Process sales and purchase invoices
- Keep financial records accurate and up to date in Xero, with Dext for receipt and document capture
- Flag issues early and liaise with the Director and accountants as needed
What We're Looking For
- Solid bookkeeping experience, particularly credit control and invoicing
- Confident, tactful communicator, comfortable chasing payment while being mindful that many conversations are with families of residents
- Experience with Xero, or a similar system such as Sage 50, as the principles carry over and we'll support you to get up to speed
- Well organised, self-motivated and reliable
- Care sector experience is a bonus but not essential
What You'll Get
- £15 to £18 per hour, depending on experience
- Part-time, office-based, with hours to be agreed. We value the work being kept on top of and deadlines met, and we're happy to agree a pattern that works for you
- A dedicated, quiet finance office in the grounds of the home
- Full handover and ongoing support from the Director, plus access to our accountants for more formal Xero training if needed
- Free on-site parking
- Free or discounted meals on shift
- A genuinely worthwhile role where your work directly supports a care home
