About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and organised Bookkeeper to join our growing team and take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a varied SME environment and wants to have a real impact on improving processes, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting business growth.
Working closely with the management team and external accountants, you will play a key role in ensuring our finance function runs smoothly, providing accurate financial information and supporting effective decision-making.
FTE salary: £33,000 per year
This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week, and the actual salary will be paid on a pro rata basis.
Expected salary: approximately £17,600 per year , based on a 37.5-hour full-time working week.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records using Xero.
- Manage purchase ledger and sales ledger processes.
- Complete bank, supplier and customer reconciliations.
- Oversee credit control and support effective cash collection.
- Prepare VAT returns and ensure financial records are compliant.
- Support month-end processes, reporting and management information.
- Process and reconcile expenses, company credit cards and payroll journals.
- Assist with cash flow monitoring and financial administration.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and introduce efficiencies.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in bookkeeping or a similar finance role.
- Confident managing both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of their workload.
- A strong communicator who can build positive relationships with suppliers, customers and colleagues.
- Proficient in Xero and Microsoft Excel.
Desirable Experience
- AAT qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience working within an SME environment.
- Experience using Dext, Unleashed or similar finance/stock systems.
- Experience supporting payroll and VAT returns.
