Installation EngineerJob Overview
We are looking for a motivated Installation Engineer to join our growing team. This role involves the installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of structured cabling systems, including Cat 6, Cat 6A, and fibre optic cabling. You will work on a variety of projects across commercial, industrial, and data centre environments, assisting with network infrastructure installations and maintaining high-quality standards of workmanship.
Previous experience within data cabling or network infrastructure is desirable but not essential, as full training and support will be provided for the right candidate. We are seeking individuals with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn new skills within a fast-paced and rewarding industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, route, and secure Cat 6 and Cat 6A network cabling.
- Carry out cable pulling through conduits, trunking, cable trays, risers, and containment systems.
- Assist with the installation, termination, and testing of copper structured cabling systems.
- Assist with fibre optic cable installations, including termination and testing where required.
- Support the installation and maintenance of cabinets, racks, patch panels, and network hardware.
- Read and interpret basic site plans and cable route drawings.
- Label and document cabling installations accurately.
- Assist in diagnosing and rectifying faults within copper and fibre networks.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
- Work closely with project managers, clients, and site teams to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within data cabling, telecommunications, electrical installation, or a similar technical role is desirable but not essential.
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Good practical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Understanding of basic hand and power tools.
- Full UK Driving Licence (preferred but not essential).
Preferred Qualifications
- CSCS/ECS Card (desirable).
- IPAF and PASMA certification (desirable).
- Fibre Optic certification (desirable).
- First Aid certification (advantageous).
- Manufacturer cabling certifications (advantageous).
