We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Recruitment & Compliance Advisor to join our People Team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining people-focused recruitment with robust compliance and governance, helping ensure we attract great people while maintaining the highest safeguarding and regulatory standards.
About the role
As our Recruitment & Compliance Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring that recruitment, onboarding and employment compliance activities across the Portland Charity Group are carried out to the highest standard. You will lead on safer recruitment practices; support managers with expert advice and guidance; oversee sponsorship and right to work compliance; and ensure our records and systems remain accurate, compliant and audit-ready.
Working closely with hiring managers and stakeholders across the organisation, you will help us to continually improve our recruitment processes and candidate experience while ensuring compliance with statutory guidance, employment legislation and regulatory requirements.
About You
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-focused and passionate about doing things the right way.
You will have experience of:
- Managing or coordinating end-to-end recruitment processes.
- Working in a role where compliance, accuracy and record keeping are essential.
- Supporting managers with advice and guidance.
- Coordinating pre-employment checks within a regulated environment.
- Conducting audits and maintaining recruitment or HR records.
- Using recruitment, HR or applicant tracking systems to improve efficiency.
- Supervising or line managing administrative colleagues.
You will also bring:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A high level of accuracy and a strong attention to detail.
- The confidence to identify and address compliance risks.
- A proactive approach to improving processes and embracing technology.
- A commitment to confidentiality and UK GDPR requirements.
- The ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Working Hours
Monday - Friday: 8:30am - 4:30pm with the opportunity for hybrid working after successfully completing probation.
