Position: Front of House Assistant
Hours/working pattern: This is a zero-hour contract, meaning we can’t guarantee a set number of hours each week. While we aim to provide a consistent work pattern, flexibility is needed as schedules may change based on business needs. We’ll try to give as much notice as possible. The role includes weekends and Bank Holidays.

Are you passionate about delivering excellent customer service and helping visitors have a memorable day out? Didcot Railway Centre is looking for enthusiastic and friendly Front of House Assistants to join our team.
As the first point of contact for our visitors, you’ll play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere while supporting the day-to-day operation of one of Britain’s most fascinating heritage railway museums.
What you’ll be doing
- Welcoming visitors with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Providing information about the site, exhibits, train rides and events.
- Assisting with ticket sales and admissions.
- Handling customer enquiries and directing visitors around the site.
- Supporting the gift shop and other visitor facilities when required.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and welcoming front-of-house environment.
- Working as part of a team to ensure visitors enjoy a safe and memorable experience.
What we’re looking for
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A positive, approachable and reliable attitude.
- Confidence working with members of the public of all ages.
- Ability to remain calm and helpful during busy periods.
- Previous customer-facing experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- An interest in heritage, museums or railways is welcomed but not required.

Pay: £8.00-£12.71 per hour
