Job Summary
We are looking for a fun and enthusiastic person to join our team of swimming teachers at Make Waves!
At Make Waves our swimming teachers work with 4 swimmers at a time in the water with them. The water is 32 degrees Celsius and 1.2m deep. There are secure platforms for the children to rest on. Though we teach all ages and abilities with equal care and attention, we specialise in 0-7 year old swimmers.
The successful candidate or candidates will be energetic and passionate. They will care about the children they are teaching and will either have an existing knowledge or the willingness to learn about child development and how it relates to swimming lessons.
Make Waves Swimming Teachers focus on safety and learning their children to build confidence and help motivate them to try and achieve their best while enjoying themselves!
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver structured swimming lessons tailored to the skill levels and needs of individual students
- Monitor student progress, provide and receive constructive feedback, adjusting teaching methods accordingly
- Ensure the safety of all participants and record incidents as applicable
- Maintain an organised working station and participate in removal of hazards such as a wet pool deck before leaving the environs.
- Communicate effectively with swimmers, colleagues, and supervisors to support learning objectives
Qualifications
- Minimum STA Level 2 or Swim England SEQ Level 2 or equivalent
- Minimum Swim Teacher Rescue Award or NRASTC or equivalent
- Enhanced DBS
- Minimum Level 2 Safeguarding - this can be provided
- Preferred - Level 2 or above in baby and pre-school aquatic teaching
Hours of Work
Teaching shifts may be Monday to Saturday. Hours have some flexibility, but are generally as below;
Weekdays 0930-1230
Weekdays 1600-1900
Saturdays 0900-1300
Pay: From £16.00 per hour
