ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Packaging Artworker at Piping Rock UK, you will be responsible for creating, managing and approving packaging artwork for a diverse range of food supplement products. Working across labels, cartons, pouches and other packaging formats, you'll take ownership of artwork projects from initial brief through to print approval, ensuring every pack meets brand, regulatory and production standards.
This role combines technical artwork expertise with project management, supplier liaison and cross-functional collaboration. You'll work closely with Regulatory, Quality, Product Development, Design and Supply Chain departments to deliver high-quality packaging that supports both UK and international markets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Artwork Production
- Create, update and maintain production artwork for food supplement packaging, including labels, folding cartons, pouches and other packaging formats.
- Produce artwork for both English-only and multilingual packaging across UK and international markets.
- Prepare accurate, print-ready files in line with supplier and printer specifications.
- Ensure consistency with brand guidelines across all product ranges.
- Produce artwork suitable for retail, wholesale and e-commerce channels.
Artwork Project Management
- Take ownership of artwork projects from initial brief through to final approved print files, ensuring all milestones, approvals and supplier deliverables are completed on time.
- Manage multiple artwork projects simultaneously while meeting agreed deadlines.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays and proactively communicate risks to stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate project records, version history and artwork status within the company's project management systems.
- Support workload planning by providing regular updates on project progress and priorities.
Quality & Compliance
- Liaise with Regulatory, Quality Assurance and Product Development teams to ensure packaging complies with UK, EU and international regulations.
- Conduct detailed artwork proofing and quality checks before approval and release.
- Prepare, issue and manage digital soft proofs, ensuring stakeholder feedback is accurately incorporated.
- Liaise directly with print suppliers and packaging manufacturers, reviewing and approving printer's proofs before production.
- Maintain organised artwork files, version control and digital asset management throughout the artwork lifecycle.
- Resolve technical artwork and print queries with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of artwork procedures and best practices.
Skills & Experience
Essential
· Previous experience as a Packaging Artworker, Production Artworker or similar role.
· Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign.
· Experience producing print-ready packaging artwork for labels, cartons, pouches and other packaging formats.
· Strong understanding of print production processes, packaging specifications, dielines and printer requirements.
· Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve artwork errors before release.
· Experience preparing, issuing and managing digital soft proofs and incorporating stakeholder feedback.
· Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple projects and meet changing deadlines.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence working cross-functionally with Regulatory, Quality, Product Development, Marketing, Procurement and external print suppliers.
· Experience maintaining accurate version control and document management throughout the artwork lifecycle.
· Strong proofreading skills with the ability to accurately handle complex English and multilingual packaging copy.
Desirable
- Experience within the food supplements, food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics or wider FMCG industry.
- Knowledge of UK, EU and international food supplement labelling regulations.
- Experience using artwork management, project management or approval workflow systems.
- Experience working with multilingual packaging across European and international markets.
- Knowledge of packaging materials and print processes, including flexographic, lithographic and digital printing.
- Proven experience managing artwork projects from initial brief through to final print approval.
- Experience coordinating artwork approval workflows across multiple departments and external suppliers.
