Product Owner
London - Hybrid Working
Contract: Fixed Term Contract - 12-18 months
Hours: 35 hours
We are leading a bold and transformative journey - and we're looking for a Product Owner on an 18 month FTC, to join our flagship technology system transformation programme within our Retail B2B2C business. This is a Product Owner in title, but a genuine product management role in substance. We are looking for someone to own customer and business outcomes end-to-end, not just the backlog.
As a Product Owner you will take real ownership of a product area - setting the vision, shaping the strategy, and being accountable for the outcomes you deliver. You will work closely with the Business Lead (Retail Product Director) and a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders, partnering day-to-day with engineering teams, solution architects, product designers, operations, distribution, and risk & compliance to discover, prioritise and deliver a roadmap that moves meaningful business and customer metrics.
This role is about solving difficult problems for our customers, advisers and business. We are looking for someone who leads product discovery, makes evidence-based trade-offs, and connects the product to the wider Retail B2B2C strategy.
If you have experience owning products or propositions in B2B2C digital businesses, or leading product in complex transformation programmes, thrive in solving big, ambiguous challenges, and want to be involved in a major technology overhaul - we'd love to hear from you.
Set the product vision and roadmap - define a clear, compelling vision for your area that connects to the Retail B2B2C strategy and translate it into a prioritised roadmap of the problems worth solving, working with the Retail Product Director.
Lead product discovery - continuously test desirability, usability, feasibility and viability before committing to build, so the team invests in building the right things.
Champion the voice of the customer and adviser - build a deep, first-hand understanding of their needs through direct contact, research and feedback, and represent those needs in every product decision.
Use data to decide - combine quantitative and qualitative evidence to size opportunities, understand the "why" behind behaviour, define success metrics, and connect product decisions to measurable business impact.
Prioritise ruthlessly - make the hard trade-offs on what to build and what not to, based on value, viability and strategic fit; the backlog is an output of your strategy, not the strategy itself.
Influence without authority - align a wide range of internal stakeholders (proposition, operations, distribution, engineering, risk & compliance) and senior leaders behind clear product decisions.
Shape strategy - bring market, competitor and regulatory insight to inform product decisions and contribute to the wider Retail product strategy, ensuring programme milestones and defined benefits are met.
Resilient and able to adapt, working hands-on when required; highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to plan, manage and prioritise your own workload to see a job through to conclusion.
