R. Plevin & Sons Ltd have an exciting opportunity for a Yard Operative to join our busy team based at our Elkesley site. Working on a full time, permanent basis to which you will receive a competitive salary.
Hours of Work:
4 on 4 off shift pattern, 06:00-18:00 hours (average 40.25 hours per week)
Please note: This shift pattern does include some weekend working.
R. Plevin & Sons is one of the UK market leaders in wood recycling and a manufacturer of animal bedding. This role is based in our wood recycling yard.
As our Yard Operative/Chargehand your duties will include:
- Full adherence to health and safety procedures and to site rules
- Checking incoming loads of wood material to ensure loads are correct to specification, reporting any contaminants in the loads.
- Manual sorting of pre-crushed wood to remove contaminants prior to processing.
- Operating shredder machines.
- Guiding vehicles to load and unload safely.
- Maintaining housekeeping around the site to a high standard.
Please note that there will be some manual handling involved in this role.
Key skills and experience:
- Previous experience of operating a FLT is desirable, along with a valid FLT licence
- Experience of operating a teletruk and a valid teletruk licence is desirable. (teletruk conversion training can be provided to suitable FLT licence holders)
- Self motivated
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weathers
Full training will be given to suitable candidates.
