Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activity Coordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organising, and facilitating a variety of recreational programmes tailored to the needs of our residents, with particular emphasis on senior care, dementia, and Alzheimer's support. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on residents' quality of life through creative and personalised activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement diverse activity programmes that promote socialisation, mental stimulation, and physical well-being for residents.
- Organise group activities, individual sessions, and special events that cater to residents’ interests and abilities.
- Foster an inclusive environment by encouraging participation from all residents, including those with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ needs and preferences, ensuring activities are suitable and beneficial.
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted and resident participation levels.
- Monitor residents during activities to ensure safety and engagement at all times.
- Adapt activities as necessary to accommodate changing health conditions or cognitive abilities.
- Promote a positive atmosphere that enhances residents’ overall well-being and sense of community.
Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or senior care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer’s care principles is essential.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with elderly residents and team members.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults through meaningful engagement.
- Organised approach with the ability to plan, coordinate, and adapt activities efficiently.
- Experience in caregiving or care home settings is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing high-quality care.
