About Us
1610 at the Globe Inn is a well-established restaurant in the centre of Dumfries, recently refurbished to a high standard. The venue offers a 40-cover dining space and private dining, with strong historical links to Robert Burns.
We focus on delivering quality food, drink and service. Due to continued growth and internal progression, we are looking for a reliable and motivated individual to join the team. This role is suited to someone looking to develop their career in a supportive, professional kitchen.
Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work across all sections of the kitchen, including the pass.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting and overseeing kitchen sections
- Assisting with deliveries, stock control and ordering
- Maintaining the restaurant’s standards
- Contributing to menu development and costings
- Training and supporting junior chefs
- Following all health and hygiene regulations (including HACCP)
- Maintaining cleanliness in kitchen and storage areas
- Running the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence when required
Key Requirements
The ideal candidate will be hardworking, adaptable and keen to learn, with a genuine interest in food.
Desirable experience:
- Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef (approx. 1 year)
- Chef de Partie experience in Michelin or 3–4 AA Rosette kitchens
- Or similar experience in a high-quality environment
Preferred qualification:
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Basic or Intermediate)
