Are you the sort of person who sees something that needs sorting and just gets on with it?
We’re exclusively recruiting for a growing manufacturing business looking for an ambitious Purchasing & Office Manager to take ownership of purchasing while becoming a key person within the wider operation.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who already has solid purchasing experience but wants more – more responsibility, more exposure to the wider business and the chance to genuinely influence how things are done as the company grows.
This is much more than an admin role. You’ll take real ownership of purchasing and supplier coordination, while keeping a busy office and manufacturing operation organised and moving in the right direction.
There’s plenty of scope to make the role your own, improve how things are done and grow with the business. We’re looking for someone hungry to develop, happy to take responsibility and keen to become increasingly influential as the company continues to expand.
What you'll be doing
- Taking ownership of day-to-day purchasing and raising purchase orders
- Managing supplier relationships, pricing, availability and lead times
- Keeping purchasing records and order information accurate and up to date
- Monitoring stock requirements and working closely with warehouse and operational teams
- Coordinating deliveries and helping resolve supply or logistics issues before they cause delays
- Working across purchasing, production, projects and other internal departments
- Speaking confidently with suppliers, customers and colleagues at all levels
- Keeping on top of multiple priorities in a busy manufacturing environment
- Supporting the smooth running of the office, including diaries and general coordination
- Looking for opportunities to improve processes rather than simply following what's always been done
- Becoming a dependable central point of contact who helps keep everything moving
What we're looking for
- Genuine purchasing, buying or procurement experience
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering or production
- Commercial awareness and confidence dealing with suppliers
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to juggle changing priorities
- Comfortable working with systems, spreadsheets and purchasing/order information
- A proactive, practical approach – you'll spot problems and take action
- Confidence communicating across different departments and levels of seniority
- Someone who enjoys responsibility and wants to keep developing
- A positive, energetic approach and the confidence to challenge or suggest a better way of doing something
ERP or document management system experience would be useful, but we're much more interested in finding the right calibre of person with the right attitude and purchasing foundations.
Why consider it?
- £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience
- Join a business that is growing and investing
- Genuine opportunity to develop your responsibilities as the company grows
- A role with variety – not sitting behind a desk processing the same tasks every day
- Plenty of autonomy and the opportunity to influence how things are done
- Work closely with different areas of the business and gain broader operational exposure
- Modern working environment
- Free on-site parking
- Free use of an on-site gym
- Monday to Friday working hours
- Stable, permanent opportunity with a business that has ambitious plans for the future
This would particularly suit someone who has built a good grounding in purchasing or procurement with office management experience/capability and is now looking for a role where they can step up, take more ownership and broaden their experience.
If you're ambitious, organised and commercially minded – and you'd rather be somewhere you can make things happen than simply maintain the status quo – we'd love to hear from you.
