Position Overview:
Steon Lighting is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Lighting Designer.
We welcome applications from both those with prior experience and those looking to start a career in lighting design. While experience with CAD or lighting software is helpful, it is not essential – we’re looking for someone who can quickly grasp technical concepts, approach problems logically, and is eager to learn.
Full training will be provided, including support towards achieving LIA Certification (a recognised accredited qualification) and ongoing professional development.
An ideal candidate will be eager to learn on the job, contribute to a close-knit team, prioritise workload effectively, and approach tasks with flexibility and initiative. We are looking for someone self-motivated, organised, professional, articulate, and keen to succeed while exceeding customer expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Working closely with our sales team to understand project briefs
· Interpreting architectural plans, sections and elevations to ascertain project requirements
· Producing detailed calculations in our lighting design package Relux to ensure proposed solution is compliant with CIBSE guidelines
· Utilising design packages such as AutoCAD to plot building plans
· Undertaking count-offs to discern quantities for quotation purposes
· Liaising with architects, consultants and end clients
· Project and workload management
· Collaborating with a cross-functional team to add value for the customer
· General ad hoc administrative and technical duties
Requirements:
· Computer skill proficiency (including proficient use of Microsoft Office applications)
· Basic AutoCAD and Relux or Dialux experience preferable, however not a requirement
· A proactive approach to tasks and an eagerness to learn and develop technical skills
· Confident communication and writing skills
· Creative flair with a passion for design
· Full and valid UK driving licence
