We are looking for an experienced Catering Assistant / Chef to join our small team at Sofood!
This is a varied, hands-on kitchen role preparing fresh food for corporate buffets, private parties, funerals and events. As a small team, everyone helps with everything from food preparation and buffet presentation to cleaning and washing up.
The role includes:
- Preparing sandwiches, savoury platters, salads, canapés and hot food
- Assembling and presenting orders accurately
- Managing your own workload and taking responsibility for getting your work completed
- Cleaning, washing up and completing food safety records
- Occasionally making local deliveries in our company van
- Cooking or serving food at local off-site events when required
Most shifts are Monday to Friday with a 7am start. There is very little evening work.
Finish times vary depending on the workload, so you will need to be flexible and able to stay until the day’s orders are completed. All hours worked are paid.
Weekend work is occasional and normally consists of a short daytime shift rather than evening work.
We are normally closed from 24 December until 2 January, although an occasional short shift may be required depending on orders. There is no work on Christmas Day.
You will need:
- At least one year’s professional kitchen or catering experience
- A good understanding of food hygiene and allergens
- A reliable and flexible approach
- A full UK driving licence
A Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate is preferred, although training can be arranged.
