Workshop Assistant / Driver's Mate (Fixed Term Contract)

We are expanding our team and are looking for a Workshop Assistant / Driver's Mate to join us on an initial 5-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for the role to be extended.
This role is ideal for someone looking to start or develop a career in furniture making while gaining hands-on experience in both our workshop and delivery operations.
The Role
The majority of your time will be spent working alongside our experienced team in the workshop, producing high-quality table tops and furniture for a large restaurant chain and a variety of bespoke
projects. Duties will include sanding, preparing materials, assisting senior team members and helping maintain an organised and efficient workshop.
In addition, you will work as a Driver's Mate 1–3 days per week, assisting with deliveries across the UK.
We deliver large, heavy furniture, so this part of the role requires a good level of physical fitness, a positive attitude and excellent teamwork.
Delivery days often involve early starts (from 5.00am) and can be longer than a standard working day, depending on the delivery schedule. Flexibility is therefore essential.

Preferred
Previous furniture workshop experience (beneficial but not essential).
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Health & Safety qualification.
Forklift licence.
First Aid qualification.
The Benefits
Monday–Friday working, with workshop hours typically 7.30am–4.00pm.
Delivery days will require early starts (from 5.00am) and may involve longer working hours.
Optional overtime available, all hours over 40 per week are paid time and a quarter.
