We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist with an interest in health and neuropsychology to come and join our innovative Neurorehabilitation Service. The service includes a 6-bed 2b Inpatient Neurorehab Unit at the Pulross Centre in Brixton and community stroke and neurorehabilitation teams with team bases in the London boroughs of Southwark and Lambeth. We offer intensive, inter-disciplinary rehab and condition management to individuals presenting with a range of neurological conditions. The postholder will work clinically under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist / neuropsychologist as required across the various clinical teams.
You will gain a broad experience of psychological practice; contributing to the provision of psychological (including neuropsychological) assessments and interventions; supporting and enhancing the rehabilitation of clients within the service, as part of the multi-disciplinary team. You will support admin, research and audit within the Neuropsychology service. You will be expected to attend and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings as well as GSTT psychology meetings and events
You will join a supportive and friendly neuropsychology team, with an 8c Consultant, 1 x 8a Clinical Psychologist, 1 x Band 7 Practitioner Psychologist and Trainees.
You will also be a part of the wider multi-disciplinary teams including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, health care assistants, medical staff, social workers and clinical leads.
Your time will be split between the inpatient neurorehabilitation service in Brixton and the community based stroke and neurorehab teams across the two boroughs.
You will work within a psychologically based framework and provide support in the assessment, formulation, treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, under the supervision of a qualified Practitioner Psychologist
You will undertake protocol based psychological assessments of individuals, applying psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, and conducting observations and interviews with individuals, family members and carers.
You will contribute to writing client assessments and/or treatment review reports and maintain an accurate clinical record.
You will attend and contribute to as appropriate the weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, business meetings and case planning meetings for individuals within the service.
You will support the running of the wider team by preparing test materials, therapy resources and other clinical admin duties as required.
You will contribute as required to the assessments, collection and data entry required for relevant clinical databases.
You will contribute to the training and support of other staff providing psychological care, including preparation of teaching resources and other materials.
You will receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
You will gain an experience of professional psychology within the NHS through attendance at training workshops/meetings, departmental psychology meetings and by attending regional assistant psychology meetings.
You will be supported to develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties, with opportunities to participate in CPD training.
