Role: Accounts & Billing Assistant, The Wool Exchange, 10 Hustlergate, Bradford BD1 1RE
To provide an accounts and billing administration service within the Head Office. The team consists of three administrators and an accounts manager who are responsible for ensuring the efficient financial transactions of the firm, working within the Solicitors Accounts Rules and LAA Contract Regulations.
Main Responsibilities
- Working in a legal aid environment
- Report directly to a Manager
- Drafting/ preparing bills of costs
- Working with the portal CCMS
- Working to deadlines
- Maintaining accurate time costing procedures
- Implementing any recommendations made by your supervisor following monthly meetings ensuring that these are dealt with promptly
- Ensuring compliance with file management
- Internal training and reviewing the ongoing costs management process
- Travel claims for fee earners including internal and external claims, claiming as appropriate, uploading relevant evidence and paying out the disbursements
- Checking experts invoices and other disbursements
- Billing legal aid matters
Key Skills Required:
- Worked in a litigation environment and have some relevant legal experience gained within a Costs team
- Experience of handling your own costs caseload from start to finish
- Costs negotiation skills and experience
- Up to date knowledge of LAA Costs Assessment Guidance and legislation
- IT literate including knowledge of using CCMS
- Strong attention to detail
- Committed team player and adapt well to new challenges
- Professional with a pro-active approach; excellent client care skills and ability to deal with other professionals and court services
- Excellent networking and communication skills with the ability to successfully market the Company and generate new business
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to use own initiative and sound judgment
- Excellent IT Skills -familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management skills
- Any other duties which are, in the reasonable opinion of the firm, ancillary, necessary or conducive to the role and responsibilities outlined above

Pay: £12.71 per hour
