Overview
We are seeking a driven, proactive, and relationship-focused Business Development professional to join our team on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity cover until approximately the end of November 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a meaningful contribution, as the role has a strong focus on business development and offers significant scope to create a lasting impact.

Key responsibilities:
- Working closely with SMEs and industry partners, you will play a key role in expanding and strengthening our employer network by building trusted, long-term relationships and identifying opportunities for growth.
- You will take the time to understand employers’ challenges and priorities, including skills shortages, workforce development, and training needs, and provide solutions that help businesses overcome barriers and achieve their ambitions.
- With a focus on securing both repeat and new business, you will be instrumental in driving sustainable growth, developing strategic partnerships, and supporting employers to unlock new opportunities.
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience in business development, with a strong track record of identifying, securing, and growing B2B relationships to expand a customer or employer base and generate sustainable business opportunities.
- Experience working with SMEs and industry partners, understanding their workforce challenges and skills needs, and developing tailored solutions that support business growth and employee development.
- Knowledge and successful promotion of apprenticeships and commercial (full-cost) training opportunities, with the ability to articulate their value and match solutions to employer requirements.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility quickly, negotiate effectively, and establish productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive, self-motivated, and results-driven approach, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of business development activities.
- Strong organisational and relationship management skills, with experience maintaining accurate pipelines, tracking opportunities, and delivering excellent customer service throughout the client journey.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work across internal teams to ensure employers receive high-quality, responsive, and tailored support that leads to successful long-term partnerships.
